Graphics & wayfinding for immersive AR experience
Building on the acclaimed BBC series, Green Planet, described as “Planet Earth from the perspective of plants,” Factory 42 created an immersive AR experience featuring a holographic Sir David Attenborough as your guide. Powered by EE’s 5G network, the experience showcased six biomes and an introductory stage, including a fully recreated living rainforest.
Our role was to create the external and internal signage, ensuring the graphics worked in harmony with the overall experience. Users are invited to discover more information alongside the already engrossing experiential, digital and sonic experience. Being careful to not to clash with this, or interfere with the AR technology, we kept all designs clear, simple and succinct.

Iconography
The signage and info bites in the rainforest introductory section were engraved directly onto pine approved by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), to be sure it was as environmentally friendly as possible.
Our goal was to create simple, clear signage that doesn’t distract from the overall experience, but adds additional content.
Backlit signage was used to create breathing space within each biome, with complementary information to the AR experience.
The windows on this iconic Grade I listed building on Piccadilly Circus became advertising space for the exhibition, both in the build up and also during the time it was open.
We were extremely fortunate to work with the joyous Planning Unit on The Green Planet AR Experience. Not only did they consistently dazzle us with graphical brilliance, elegant designs and careful research, they were also wonderful humans to collaborate with. I miss our catch up calls already and cannot wait to work with them again. Until the next time!
